Vent

Sometimes I feel xanga is pointless. It just takes too much time to write an entry that almost no one reads.

I'm cranky today. You can probably tell by the tone of my writing style. I have a lot on my mind.

Have you ever set your heart on something and been forced to push it out of your mind because it's "impractical"? Have you ever felt God calling you somewhere, but having everyone else tell you otherwise? Have you ever wanted to do something slightly untypical but couldn't do it because "things are different nowadays". I hate how things are nowadays! In the words of the Black Eyed Peas, what's wrong with the w-w-world??!

This is the world's definition of life...

You are born.
You grow.
You go to school, where your head is crammed with lots of things that you'll just forget the next year.
You graduate high school.
You go to college, probably for something you don't have a passion for.
You get a job, a boring one usually.
You make money.
You buy things.
You date in the mean time.
You date for years.
You work until you have lots of money.
You finally get married 'cause you have enough money and a house and a car, 'cause that's what matters.
You eventually have kids and watch them go through the same system.

I despise the world's system. What happened to the days when people rode horse back and didn't have to buy gas? Why don't we still barter, trade and borrow from our neighbors? Why does our work consist of sitting at a desk instead of working our own land with our own hands? Why do people feel they can't marry the person they love until they have all this money and other stuff? Why are people so wrapped up in their careers that they don't see the meaning in settling down and having a family? Why does having kids have to mean stress and turmoil? What happened to the good 'ol days when kids learned all they needed to learn from a Christian teacher in a one room school house? Why does a social life consist of parties and staying up late and exhausting yourself? Why do we wear ripped up jeans and tight shirts instead of modest dresses and suits?

There are a lot of whys. Honestly, we know why... the world changes, and it won't stop. Some day people will be flying around in space ships from planet to planet. In fact, we'll probably have houses that fly. A banana will probably cost $5.00 and there won't be any such thing as a book... people will read everything on the computer. The government will force us to install chips in our skulls so they can read our minds.

Hopefully our Lord will return before any such things could happen.

I'm old fashioned and I can't help it. But I tell ya, it's awfully hard to live an old fashioned life in this world. You have to be Amish I guess.

Work is my life...

Goodness! Today I awoke at 7:30 am, left for work at 8:30, and didn't get home until 8 pm!! The day is practically over and I've spend my one hour at home eating and writing in xanga! Where has the day gone?

The answer is work. I'm working 30 hours a week. It's not even full time, but the hours are spread out (I have frequent breaks, which I really need as a dance teacher) so I'm at the studio all day. M/W/F my hours are 10 am to 5:30 pm and T/R I'm there from 9 am - 7:30 pm. Tonight I stayed later to take care of some payments and registrations at the front desk.
I have such a varied work schedule and I love it!

This summer I teach ballet to all different ages... 4 year olds through adults! Twice a week now I'm teaching adult ballet classes. I've never regularly taught ballet to people older than myself, so it's challenging. I have to use a completely different approach than I'd use for the little kids. I explain all the details and the anatomy of the moves. For example, "elongate your spine" in adult ballet speak = "hide your breakfast" for the younger kids. Basically that means to pull your stomach in.

I'm also the choreographer for the production of Alice and Wonderland!! I'm working on 6 choreography pieces for 18 kids. It's going really well so far but it's a lot of work!
On top of all that I'm going 2-3 hours of administrative work ever day.
Plus I'm riding my bike 10 miles a day and working out. I'm determined to get in great shape this summer. To be honest, I'm getting obsessed with bicycling! It's the most fun ever!!

Some of you know I've been spending lots of time with natureg0d. He's the best friend I could ever ask for. Even though we can't always be together in person, we pray together ever day and he cheers me up whenever I'm down or tired. I'm praising God for having such a godly young man in my life.

Speaking of God, today I got an old check box and cut a slit in the top. I wrote "God box" on top. Then I wrote some things I get anxious about on a slip of paper and put it in the box. It's basically a visual reminder for me to give my worries up to God. I tend to remember things better if I have some sort of visual illustration. I do tend to be a worrywart and freak out about the silliest things! What are some silly things you worry about? I worry about bugs in my bed. I have a nervous habit of checking under all my covers every night before I go to bed!

Back to the biking... I have talked to so many people who have been bicycling to work and around town! So here's to a poll: how many of you bike on a regular basis? And why do you bike? For enjoyment, exercise, or to save gas?! For me it's all of the above.

Have a great week and God bless!

Hiking, Swingsets and Poetry

Today was a beautiful day. Yesterday was even more beautiful, cause I was in Delaware hiking in the sunshine with this pretty cool person I know.
But still, today was wonderful. I've been trying to apply the verse that talks about "praying without ceasing" to my life. I've been trying to focus on God more and talk to Him throughout the day. It's given me a lot of joy and energy!

I ran into the Clark family at the park today! I went there to get some fresh air on my break from work. I played on the swing set with the kids... we had a fun time. I also met one of my neighbor's kids. He's 3 years old and the funniest little guy you'll ever meet. He kept saying "I like your dress (I was wearing a skirt), and your shirt, I like you, etc." he was a complimentary little kid.

Work was good tonight... the kids behaved, I actually felt patient (sometimes I'm not feeling patient, but I can appear to be lol). I finished my choreography for the dance where 40ish of my students are onstage at once. Hopefully it won't be too chaotic.

Read the poem on natureg0d's xanga.

Have a happy week!!!

Bible studies and silly poetry

I feel like a new person. God's given me such a yearning to really study the Scriptures lately! I've been doing devotions more faithfully and I'm excited about what I am learning. I also started reading Scripture Alone by James White. It's about the authority of the Bible. The book consists mostly of dialogues between Christians of different denominations. It's interesting to see their different views and interpretations of the Scriptures.

Natureg0d and I are chatting right now and attempting to write a cheesy poem (not at all a hard thing for us). Perhaps I will post when it's finished haha. Perhaps not. Maybe he'll beat me to it.

Have a great Wednesday everyone!
